The perfect competitive Pokemon.
With buying Pokemon X, I had no idea what the game would be
like. It’s different than most Pokemon games I’ve played, but I’ll save those
details for a review or something. The most important Post-game thing you can
do in Pokemon X/Y is doing competitive battles online or using the Battle
Maison or the Battle Institute (like the Battle Tower in previous games). If
you are unfamiliar with the competitive side of Pokemon, I’ll break it down for
you.
Each pokemon can have 510 EV’s. These are called Effort
Points. When you kill another Pokemon, you save up Effort Points for when you
level you. When you level up, you gain extra stats based on the Effort Points
you’ve earned in battle. Say you wanted HP EV’s. You would go find Bidoofs or
something that gives a HP EV. Bidoof is worth 1 EV, so killing 4 would equal
out to 4 EV’s. Every 4 EV is broken down into one stat point. Every stat is allowed 255 EV’s, however, the
last 4 don’t count (I forgot why, I haven’t been doing anything competitive
since using one of the simulators, which I forget the name now, but it’s been
about 2-3 years). So generally the average distribution would be 252/252/4. 252
divided by 4 is 63. That is 63 extra stats you are giving to your Pokemon. Let’s
take Salamence for example. He’s a sweeper (a single Pokemon than can kill an
entire team if used right). If you wanted to use a full Attack set (minus
Dragon Dance for the set-up (gives +1 ATK and +1 Speed)), you would put 252 EV’s
into Attack and 252 EV’s into speed to make sure he does optimal damage and
optimal speed to first hit most Pokemon. The remainder 4 EV’s would go into HP.
Why? Because for some reason the meta-game believes that 1 extra HP helps along
the line. Don’t ask me. I never understood it.
Okay, so EV’s are out of the way. Now onto IV’s. IV’s are
Individual Values. They are what make Pokemon extremely different and making
bonus stats. They cannot be seen either (except now in Pokemon X/Y when you
talk to a guy and he’ll tell you which ones are maxed out). There are 31 max IV’s
per stat on a Pokemon. HP/Attack/Defense/Special Attack/Special Defense/Speed.
Most maxed IV’s are impossible to get and that’s why I’m going to break down
how to get (almost) perfect IV’s in X/Y.
I first started with an Electrike. An Electric-type that
also has a Mega Evolution and a pretty high 105 base speed evolution (135 when
in Mega Evo form, which is a huge difference).
There are many new ways to breed for IV’s and to get EV’s in
X/Y which cater to post-game competitive stuff. One of the new ways is the
Friend Safari. Using the Friend Safari (and 4chan’s /vp/ board which caters to
Pokemon fans), I can find a friend with a Safari of Normal-typed Pokemon and a
Ditto. The thing with Friend Safari is that you can be a person’s friend and
then use them for a 3-Pokemon safari that’s randomly generated by your Friend
Code. I managed to find a person with a Ditto in theirs. Every pokemon you find
can have the minimum amount of 2 maxed IV’s, minus extras based on RNG
(Randomness). You can simply farm catching Dittos until you get one with 3 IV’s
like I did, or wait until 4 IV’s (takes much longer). Let me remind you that a
Pokemon with 6 IV’s is considered the perfect Pokemon (Nature takes account
too)
Okay. Possibly onto the fun stuff on how I am currently
trying to achieve the perfect Electrike. From now on I’ll refer the number of
IV’s I have by 1x,2x,3x, etc.
I first started with a 2x HP/Sp.A Ditto in a Friend Safari.
I managed to get a 1x Speed Electrike in the GTS (Global Trade System). I used
the Ditto and the Electrike in the Daycare center until I got the right Nature’d
Electrike. Timid nature. Now, by letting the new Timid Electrike, I can let him
hold an Everstone and replace my old one with the new one. The everstone lets
you keep the Nature onto newly hatched Pokemon. Next I put a Destiny Knot onto
the Ditto. Destiny Knot lets you pass down 3 random IV’s onto the newly
hatched.
Tl;dr – I now have a 100% Timid and possibly (still RNG
unfortunately, taking 8 tries until I got a 3x) 2x in HP/Sp.A from the Ditto.
By the 8th try, I got a 3x Electrike with
HP/Sp.A/Speed. The Speed IV might be luck since I swapped the two electrikes
and I don’t think the newer one had 1x Speed.
So now I have a 2x Ditto and a 3x Electrike. I replaced the
then 1x Electrike with the new 3x Electrike. I thought I’d get a 4x soon, but
that never happened. So I hopped into the Friend Safari for a better Ditto.
I managed to get a 3x Def/Sp.A/Speed Ditto, but
unfortunately it had 0 Atk IV’s, which is actually perfect since my Manetrikes
moveset and nature won’t require any Atk-based moves and the newly Def IV I can
pass down with Destiny Knot.
I swapped out the 2x Ditto for the 3x Ditto now. ( I swapped
out the everstone on the Electrike for a Destiny Knot in hopes of faster IV
spread) Still nothing until on my 25th egg I got a 3x Def/Sp.A/Speed
(No Atk) Lax Nature (Might throw this one out or save it for somebody on the
/vp/ board, but most people want 5x’s). Now it’s missing the HP IV which I’m
currently looking for now.
So let’s tl;dr again: 3x Def/Sp.A/Speed (0 Atk) Ditto will
breed with my 8th egg 3x HP/Sp.A/Speed Electrike
This should give me an overall 100% timid, 4x Electrike with
HP/Def/Sp.A/Speed.
Now for the future plans:
With hold of another Destiny Knot I can put a 3x Electrike
(8th egg) and another 3x Electrike (25th egg) and it will
make a potential 4x faster. I will lose Nature, but that’s not important now. Ditto
and Electrike made slow eggs (20% chance I think). By pairing two Elektrikes I
can make the chance 50% (or 80%? If I recall correctly). This can make for
faster hatching instead of waiting for the 20% chance of getting a new egg.
When the 4x is made I will replace a 3x. The 4x will have
the Destiny Knot and the other 3x will have Everstone. Then I will repeat until
I get another 4x Timid Electrike. Repeating this pattern of 4x + 4x I can
potentially reach 5x. I could make this faster by hunting a rarer 4x/5x ditto,
which some have, but I’m already this far.
Now with 6 stats, the 6x is extremely rare and totally RNG. I don’t know the %, but it’s rare.

If you understood any of this, thank you for taking the time
to read it. If you don’t understand it,
sorry, but I tried my best to explain it in the smallest possible way.
